HILL HOUSE II & III
Steep-Grade-Construction 2024 | Residential, Townhouse
Hill House II & III are two new 2,600-square-foot townhouses designed for a steep infill site in Pittsburgh’s Polish Hill neighborhood. The residences respond directly to the site’s dramatic topography, stepping with the hillside to organize four levels of living space within compact urban footprints. Each home includes three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and an integrated two-car garage.
Open living, dining, and kitchen spaces feature ten-foot ceilings, generous glazing, and direct connections to exterior terraces. Outdoor spaces adjoining the kitchen and upper-level bedroom culminate in a rooftop deck with expansive sunset views toward the Allegheny River. Conceived as related but distinct residences, the townhouses share a contemporary architectural language while maintaining individual identities. The project transforms the challenges of a steep hillside into opportunities for natural light, framed views, outdoor living, and a direct architectural relationship with Pittsburgh’s landscape and urban fabric.
