42ND STREET RESIDENCE
Restore & Refit
2025 | Residential, Adaptive Reuse
The 42nd Street Residence is a comprehensive renovation of a 1905 corner-row house in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood. The design preserves the home’s historic street presence and character-defining details while reorganizing its interior for contemporary living. The ground floor is opened to create a continuous kitchen, dining, and living space, while the upper level is reconfigured to provide three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a distinct primary suite. Original millwork, mantels, and hardwood flooring are restored where possible and integrated with new cabinetry, finishes, and building systems. Upgraded insulation, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems improve the home’s comfort and performance, extending the useful life of the existing structure while maintaining its connection to the architectural fabric of Lawrenceville.
